These images are from of our 3D Concept Design model for an extension to a Victorian Villa (c:1900) in Allanbank Road, Larbert, Stirlingshire.
The client's brief was to provide a new kitchen, a utility room and a 'sun room' to the rear of the house.
2B Architects conceived the kitchen extension as a 'garden room' and we made a new connection from the front of the house through to the garden, linking the existing lounge and dining room via the new kitchen 'garden room' to the rear private garden beyond.
Planning Permission was granted in September 2015 and construction commenced in March 2016.
The extension has been designed to Passivhaus principles. The walls are timber frame construction, highly insulated, with timber cladding externally. The new roof is also highly insulated with a light weight standing seam aluminium finish.
Windows and doors are composite Aluminium/timber frames with double glazing.
A new heating system will be provided from an 'air source' heat pump with conventional radiators in the upper floor and under floor heating for rooms on the ground floor.
The existing roof and walls will be insulated with spray applied insulation.
